NASA will send a microchip into the sun
NASA scientists have sent expeditions to the moon, studied Mars, asteroids, meteorites and all the planets in our solar system and part of the Universe, but until now they had not been encouraged to carry out direct studies on the sun, our great star. It seems that this is about to change, as NASA will have its first mission in the vicinity of the sun by June 2018.
The mission is to send a microchip called Parker Solar Probe, this object will contain the names of all the people in the world, in order to create an activity in which many people participate and support the project. But the important part of this is that the microchip will be reinforced with a carbon fiber composite heat shield, which will be 11.5 centimeters wide, so it can withstand the temperature of the sun and will not be destroyed before it reaches its surroundings.
According to NASA, the microchip could withstand temperatures up to 5,500 degrees Celsius.
NASA stipulates that the object can approach up to 6.2 million kilometers from the sun, withstanding temperatures of 5,500 degrees Celsius. The main objective of this mission is to know how the solar winds are formed and why the high temperatures of this great star, because both factors generate problems in the terrestrial electrical system and in the stellar climate.
Nicola Fox, NASA scientist and the person who will command the mission, mentions that we can see the sun because it is the one that illuminates our planet, but nobody knows enough about it because we have concentrated on investigating all the planets and celestial bodies in the universe. This is a great opportunity to make history and learn more about the sun, to discover the mysteries it hides and that affect the entire universe in whole or in part. The tentative date on which the probe will be launched is July 18, 2018.
